§ Manifesto

We believe a book is not a product. It is an artifact of attention — meticulously composed, patiently edited, and quietly bound to outlast the noise of its century.

The Studio Charter, II.iii
§ I — The Craft

Six disciplines,
one quiet obsession.

Every commission begins with a private brief. We assemble a team — writer, editor, designer, publisher — around the gravitational pull of your manuscript.

01

Ghostwriting

Long-form ghostwriting for memoirs, novels and intellectual non-fiction. We immerse, interview, and translate your interior monologue into prose with literary cadence.

02

Developmental Editing

Structural editing of arc, pacing and voice. We diagnose what the manuscript wants to become and quietly remove everything in its way.

03

Line Editing & Proofreading

Sentence-level craftsmanship. Comma by comma, em-dash by em-dash, until the page reads like a single uninterrupted breath.

04

Formatting & Layout

Typeset interiors for EPUB, Kindle, PDF and print — bespoke type systems, drop caps, running heads, and folios drawn for legibility.

05

Cover Design

Commissioned covers built like editorial posters. Custom typography, art direction, and finishes worthy of a first edition.

06

Publishing & Launch

End-to-end distribution across Amazon KDP, Apple Books, Kobo and Google Play, with metadata, ISBN, pricing strategy and quiet, well-timed campaigns.

§ II — From Manuscript to Bestseller

The transformation.

Phase I

The Narrative Excavation

Immersive interviews, archival research and structural mapping. We extract the DNA of your story before a single sentence is written.

Phase II

The Ghost's Ink

Our writers compose chapter by chapter, returning each draft for your private annotation. Voice is calibrated until indistinguishable from your own.

Phase III

Editorial Refinement

Developmental, line and copy editing in three sequential passes. Proofreading is performed twice — once on screen, once on the printed proof.

Phase IV

Visual Sovereignty

Custom cover commissioning, interior typesetting, and bespoke ornament design — every glyph chosen with the patience of a printmaker.

Phase V

The Quiet Launch

Publishing across Amazon KDP, Apple Books and other platforms. Metadata, pricing, and launch sequence orchestrated with discretion.

§ III — The Vault

§ VIII — Author Testimony

"StoryVault did not write my book. They listened so carefully, for so long, that the book wrote itself in my own voice. I have not read a sentence of it that did not feel like mine."

Eleanor Whitfield

Author, The Silent Atlas

"I have worked with three publishing houses in New York. None of them came close to the patience, restraint and craft I encountered at StoryVault."

Marcus Halberstadt

Author, Midnight in Milan

"The cover alone made my agent weep. The interior typesetting made her order a second copy."

Saoirse Lin

Author, Concrete Poetics

"The difference between a story and a legacy is the architecture of the page."

— Studio Charter
§ IX — About the Studio

A small atelier of writers, editors and printmakers.

Founded in 2014 between London and New York, StoryVault is a deliberately small studio. We accept a finite number of manuscripts each year so that each receives the patient attention of our entire team.

Our writers come from The New Yorker, Granta and Faber. Our designers from Penguin and Phaidon. Our editors have shepherded six Booker longlistees.

§ X — Frequently Asked

Quiet answers.

  • Yes. Our ghostwriting process begins with 8–20 hours of recorded interviews and a full corpus analysis of your existing writing, speech and correspondence. The first chapter is delivered as a voice-calibration draft.

  • Between four and eleven months depending on length and complexity. Memoirs typically run six months. Multi-volume non-fiction can extend to a year.

  • Always yours. StoryVault never claims authorship, byline or ISBN ownership. We are a private studio bound by full confidentiality.

  • Yes. We manage the entire publishing pipeline — accounts, metadata, ISBNs, pricing strategy, EPUB and KDP formatting, and post-launch monitoring.

  • Commissions begin at $18,000 for a complete editorial package and scale based on length, research and design specification. We provide a private quote after the first conversation.

  • We accept roughly one in twelve inquiries. Selection is based on the strength of the underlying idea and the seriousness of the author, not commercial potential.

§ XII — Begin a Legacy

Write your
next chapter.

We accept a limited number of commissions each season. Submit a brief note about your manuscript and our creative director will respond within three working days.
